Along the Rhine

Day 1 Transfer Holland - South Germany 

Travel Day from Holland to south Germany for overnight in Basel.
(You also can start this tour in Basel or Zurich).

Day 2 Transfer to starting point

Transfer along Zurich to the starting point in the Swiss high Rhinevalley at Sedrun - Sedrun – Ilanz 42 km.

Day 3 Ilanz – Chur (38 km)

Beautiful Cycling tour descending to Chur

Day 4 Chur – Werdenberg  (50 km)

Light hilly stage to the smallest town of Switzerland Werdenberg with a beautiful castle.

Day 5 Werdenberg –Rheineck (58 km)

We follow the Rhine till Lake Konstqanz / Bodensee . through the Rhine Delta to Gaisau.

Day 6 Rheineck – Konstanz (48 km)

From Arbon through Romanshorn to Konstanz.

Day 7 Resting day


Day 8 Konstanz – Schaffhausen (50 km)

Along the shores of Bodensee you cycle to the historical Stein am Rhein.

Day 9 Schaffhausen – Bad Säckingen

First you will admire the famous Rheinfall and  continuous along the boarders of the black-forest.

Day 10 Bad Säckingen – Weil am Rhein (45 km)

You will see the landschape will get more flat and the view wider to the city of Basel on the Swiss/German Boarder  with a historical city center and a beautiful Cathedral.

Day 11 Weil am Rhein – Neuf Brisach (62 km)

Now following the Rhine as a natural boarder between the French Elzas and the German Black Forest. You see many dams  washlands with many waterbirds. Take your time to visit the Medieval city of Breisach.

Day  12 Neuf Brisach – Rhinau (42 km)

Along the foothill of the Kaiserstuhl where the vulcanian rocks, the wineyards and orchards the landscape dominates.

Day 13 Rhinau – Straatsburg (42 km)

Today the route is not long so you will have all the time to admire the beautiful age old city of Straatsburg. Home of the Europarliament but absolutely worthwile visiting the Cathedral, the old quarter La Petite France , you will see it all.

Day 14 Straatsburg – Rastatt (57 km)

You will pass an idyllic landscape of the  Old Rhine. In the barock city of Rastatt your route will end.

Day 15 Rastatt – Germersheim (60 km)

You will cycle to Karlsruhe, in the old fortress of Germersheim your tor will end.

Day 16 Germersheim – Mannheim (55 km)

Along Speyer with the magnificient Cathedral Kaiserdom which you will see already in the distance.Your tour of today end in the city of Mannheim where the river Neckar meets the Rhine.

Day 17 Mannheim – Gernsheim (52 km)

The Rhine will still join you on your way to Worms where a visit to the Cathedral  from the 12th century is worth while.

Day 18 Gernsheim – Mainz (53 km)

Enjoy the nature of the Alt Rhein to Oppenheim just across the mouth of the river Main where the old city of Mainz is your finish of today.  

If you want you can continue this tour till Cologna or travel with the coach back to Frankfurt airport or  Holland where this journey started.

The hotels used will be located as much as possible directly or nearby the cycling route. It can happen that on some days there will be a coach transfer to the start or finish of the day due to lack of possible overnight hotels.  As soon as this group is confirmed we will give you the names of the hotels that will be booked for your group. The hotels will be in the category good middleclass.

Cycling Along the Rhine from the Source till Mainz

From the Alps to the Flatland

During the cycling tour you cycle all along the Rhine. Starting your tour in the Alpes in Switzerland and with breathtaking views , beautiful landscapes and nature.  You cycle along The Bodensee, the Rhinefall of Schaffhausen. Along the Black Forest, and the French Vosges  through the vineyards and along interesting cities as Straatsburg, Worms Mainz and Cologna.

The whole tour you will be cycling on quite comfortable country roads or car-free cycling-paths.

This tour is highly valued by former American groups for the variety in routes and landscape and the beautiful and pittoresque towns.
