Day 1 Arrival

In Metz, your holiday begins. Here you will receive your information package and your rental bike (when rented). Metz is the capital of Lotharingen with its Gothic Stefans Cathedral and the Arsenal. There is a parking space available for you on the outskirts of Metz.

Tip: Park your car in Koblenz and travel by train to Metz on your 1st day.

 

 

Day 2 Metz - Perl (65 km)

Cycling along the Moselle you go to Thionville and from here to the famous village of Schengen. From here, the Moselle is 27 km long, the border river between Luxembourg and Germany. Continue to Perl for your overnight stay.

You can also choose to take the train from Metz to Thionville (takes about 25 min., ticket cost approx. € 12,- on site, this journey takes only 28 km by bike).  

 

   

Day 3 Perl - Trier (51 km)

TVia Konz, where the Saar and Moselle merge, you cycle to Trier. A magnificent 2,000-year-old city with impressive roman-era remains such as the Porta Nigra and the Aula Palatina.

 

 

Day 4 Trier - Trittenheim (40 km)

Following the mighty Moselle, sometimes at the left shore and than again at the right shore. Historic villages, vineyards and old castles determine the view. Through characteristic wine villages you will cycle to your hotel in Trittenheim.

 

   

Day 5 Trittenheim - Traben Trarbach (53 km)

Surrounded by vineyards, cycle through Bernkastel-Kues, with the old market square, timbered houses and the Moselle Wine Museum to Traben-Trarbach where your suitcase awaits you.

 

 

Day 6 Traben Trarbach – Cochem  (59 km)

Cycling through the cosy wine village of Zell, you will pass Bullay and then Beilstein, known as 'Rothenburg an der Mosel'.
There is no better place to end your cycling day on the Moselle than in Cochem.

 

   

Day 7 Cochem - Koblenz (51 km)

Along Pommern to Moselkern. Then follow the last part of the Moselle bike path to Koblenz. Before you cycle to the hotel, be sure to take a break at the famous Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle and the Rhine are confluent.

 

 

Day 8 Journey home

End of the holiday.

Your transfer (excluding bicycle) from Koblenz to Trier is by train. The return transport of your own bike by train: Mon-Fri from 09:00 free, Sat-Sun usually free. The return transport of your own bike is possible daily by trailer. The costs excluding insurance are € 24.00 p.p. If you wish to make use of this option, you should indicate this when booking.

   

 

You will stay in good middle class hotels at or near the cycling route. All the rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet. Your luggage will be transported from hotel to hotel daily and will be waiting for you upon arrival.

Cycling along the Vineyards on the Moselle Cycle Route from the French border to Trier.

Excellent for a beautiful cycling holiday. Where the Moselle will be your guide on your left and then on your right again. Through characteristic wine villages, along vast wine slopes, cycling from hotel to hotel. Enjoy lunch on a terrace at the Moselle, a wine tasting in a 'Keller' and culture in the ancient Roman city of Trier. From Thionville in France to Cochem, the bike path along the Moselle is flat and excellently signposted. Luggage transport is arranged, so nothing can get in the way of a wonderfully relaxing cycling holiday.
